Many departments opt for the two boat
system that facilitates twice the search area and automatic
backup for each team.
Two boats are necessary for any low head dam rescue
and Specific training and qualifications are required
before performing any low head dam rescues.
Warning: Low Head Dams are drowning
machines and no one should ever venture into one for
any reason. |

With or without the motor, SuperDuxx
boats are the perfect rescue platform, Summer or winter.
Because the "highjacker tubes" keep you level
on the ice and off the water, pushing this platform
over the ice is no problem.
At the same time rescue skills can be performed on
the patient while you are being brought back to shore. |

Training
( all levels, up to MED 3)
The MED A-3 and MED A-4 courses were developed specifically
for crew members on vessels operating no more than
20 miles from shore. These courses also provide basic
safety at sea awareness training, but are tailored
specifically for crew members of smaller vessels and
for the environment of near-shore operations. Transport
Canada is currently working with approved safety training
providers and industry associations to enhance awareness
among mariners about the MED training requirement
and to make the training available in more remote
and rural areas.
Transport Canada will enforce the requirement without
exception after April 1, 2007.

WaterKite*
"Risk Management" just went way down...and it's
time re-write our training curriculum. With the new
WaterKite* being released in one week. Be one of the
first departments to have this new
"LOW RISK" water rescue management system.
Do swift water rescues ( the most difficult) from
the shore,
SHORE BASED-SWIFT WATER RESCUES, (doesn't sound
right, but now it is)
While staying on shore you can direct the
WaterKite* to virtually anywhere on the river, no
moving parts and built firefighter tough, (we even
drove a truck over it)
If you do any type of water rescue..., you need
to see a WaterKite. (for you own liability)
